Lemonade Stand Fundraiser To Benefit Lacey's Volunteer Groups

Nick DeBenedetto set up a lemonade stand to raise funds for volunteer groups in Lacey. Lemonade will be for sale Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LACEY, NJ — Fundraising during the coronavirus pandemic has been a challenge for many volunteer organizations. While some in-person fundraisers have shifted online, others have been canceled entirely due to capacity limitations.

Nick DeBenedetto, 12, of Lacey, came up with a creative way to help volunteer organizations in Lacey just by using ingredients from his kitchen.

DeBenedetto set up a lemonade stand in front of his Manchester Avenue home on Wednesday to raise money for the Lacey Township Underwater Rescue & Recovery Team, the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department and the Lanoka Harbor EMS.

“(Nick) wanted to help around the community because things have been a little different since COVID started,” his mother Silvania DeBenedetto told Patch. “With the hard times and COVID, I knew a lot of people did not donate to them.”

With help from his friend Daniel Toner and his cousin Olivia Tramontano, the lemonade stand has raised $450 so far.
