Looking For A Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony?

Parades honoring those who served and those who lost their lives, as well as other events, are on tap for Sunday and Monday.

There are a number of parades and remembrance ceremonies scheduled in Ocean County Sunday and Monday to mark Memorial Day.

Most towns are holding their ceremonies for all those who served in all branches on Monday, but there are two events that bear singling out:

In Barnegat on Sunday, there will be a memorial ceremony presented by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10092 and American Legion Post 232 at 10 a.m. at Fred Watts Gazebo Park, at the corner of Route 9 and Bay Avenue.

On Monday, the Jersey Shore Base submarine veterans will hold a memorial service at the Submarine Memorial at Mathis Plaza, on Route 166 overlooking the Toms River, honoring the lives of sailors lost on submarines. The memorial service will follow on the heels of the Toms River Memorial Day parade, according to the South Toms River borough website.
