Nor'easter In Lacey: Here's What Happened

A major storm hit Lacey. Here's what happened.

LACEY, NJ — A "major" nor'easter hit Lacey on Wednesday afternoon, producing heavy rain and strong winds into early Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service labeled the "major" system a "nor'easter" since it was expected to produce strong, sustained damaging winds and precipitation over a 24-hour period on Wednesday.

The NWS placed Lacey and the surrounding area under a coastal flood warning, which remains in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday.

Ahead of the forecasted nor'easter, Lacey Township Schools Superintendent Vanessa P. Clark announced that in-person instruction will be replaced with remote learning on days with inclement weather.

The NWS expected a mix of rain, snow and sleet near Lacey. Lacey received about 2.5 inches of rain since the start of the nor'easter, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Here's the NWS's forecast for Lacey as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday:

  • Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
  • Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
