Pirates And Privateers Day Coming Up At Tuckerton Seaport

Event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Seaport.

Get out your pirate’s costume and start practicing how to say “AARRGH!”

The fifth annual Pirates and Privateers Family Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Tuckerton Seaport at 120 West Main Street.

Watch as Captain Black and the crew of the Valhalla - known for plundering the East coast of the American colonies - take on the Bloody Historical Privateers of the Northern Star.

The day kicks off with a “pirate meet and greet,” followed by an array of other events, include a pirate costume contest, cannon demonstrations, amputation demonstrations (yes, you read that right) sword fights and more.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children five through 12. Admission is free for children under 5 and Seaport members.

For another $10 per person, visit the PirateTimeNJ ship for an interactive show, face painting, water cannons and tattoos. The ship sails at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Here’s a list of the events planned for the day:

  • Pirate Meet & Greet
  • Pose on the Plank Pirate Costume Contest for Adults and Children
  • Piratology 101: Learn about the Golden Age of Piracy!
  • Cannon Demo: Watch how to handle and fire a cannon. Volunteers will be needed to join the gun crew. Don’t be scared by the big BOOM at the end.
  • Scurvy Mutineers Sword Fight Show: A live steel combat show complete with action and laughs. Volunteers will be selected from the audience to join the mutiny.
  • Whip Show: Things will really heat up as tricks and skills are shown.
  • Pirate Pistol Duello Show: A stage show of how a friendly game of Liars Dice can go terribly wrong. Learn how pirates settle an argument.
  • Amputation Demonstration!
  • Food CourtMake-and-Take Crafts
  • Live Music by Pirates for Sail
  • Treasure Hunt
  • Plus, Pirate Ship Obstacle Course included with Admission!
