LACEY, NJ — A storm spread a mix of sleet, freezing rain and ice across Lacey on Thursday. The wintry weather is expected to continue into Friday. (See updated forecast below.)

Lacey Township urges residents to remove their vehicles from the streets until they have been plowed sufficiently. Summonses will be issued to residents who do not comply with the ordinance.

Two inches of snow were recorded in Lacey as of Thursday afternoon, according to National Weather Service totals.

Closures

The storm caused closures throughout the area on Thursday. The Lacey Township School District announced remote learning days on both Thursday and Friday.

Several local businesses closed early due to the inclement weather. The Lacey Food Bank postponed its monthly distribution day to Friday.

Here's the forecast in Lacey as of Thursday afternoon:

  • Thursday night: Rain. Low around 30. Northeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Friday: Rain before 11am, then rain and snow between 11am and 4pm, then rain likely after 4pm. High near 36. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Friday night: A chance of snow before 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
