LIVINGSTON, NJ — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country, while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Livingston, so you can start planning now.

Here's what's in store this July 4 in Livingston (see your local events calendar).

Livingston's annual celebration will return for 2021 with several events on Sunday, July 4. However, the fireworks and main stage entertainment have been postponed to a later date, according to the municipal website.

All events will be held on or near Memorial Oval on Robert Harp Drive. According to town officials:

  • Family fun begins at 9 a.m. with a Classic Car Show and Kiwanis Swim Karnival at Haines Pool.
  • Livingston's 27th Annual Auto Fest returns in 2021 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Livingston High School Parking Lot, 30 Robert Harp Drive.
  • From 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., a Beer & Wine Café features three live bands (must be 21 with ID to purchase).

Regular and handicap-accessible portable bathrooms will be available at the Oval. General parking is typically available in the St. Philomena’s Church lot; handicapped parking will be available in the library parking lot (enter from South Livingston Avenue).

The township is also planning a special event on Sunday, Set. 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Oval, which is dedicated to COVID-19 front-line workers and first responders. It will include an appearance from Constantine & the Frequency (Constantine Maroulis -- finalist on American Idol and Tony nominee for Rock of Ages on Broadway) sponsored by RWJ Barnabas, followed by a fireworks show sponsored by Summit Health.

The dates and performers include:

  • "Smooth" on Wednesday, June 30 in Weequahic Park in Newark
  • "The Infernos" on Thursday, July 1 in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair
  • "The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra" on Thursday, August 26 in Branch Brook Park in Newark

The following towns in Essex County have also announced that they’re holding Independence Day fireworks celebrations for 2021:

  • CEDAR GROVE – Cedar Grove will host a fireworks display on Thursday, July 1 at Panther Park Field (learn more here).
  • EAST ORANGE - East Orange will hold a "Independence Day Spectacular" including a fireworks show on Saturday, July 3 (learn more here).
  • MILLBURN – Millburn will host a fireworks event at the Millburn High School football field on Sunday, July 4 (learn more here).
  • VERONA – The township of Verona will hold a fireworks celebration on Wednesday, June 30 at the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Avenue (learn more).
  • WEST ESSEX- The towns of Caldwell, North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Roseland and Essex Fells will hold a fireworks celebration on Sunday, July 4 at the James Caldwell High School baseball field in West Caldwell (learn more).
  • WEST ORANGE - West Orange will celebrate Independence Day on Sunday, July 4 with events at West Orange High School, including a food truck festival and fireworks (learn more).
