Bears, Birds And Barks: Livingston Cops Encounter Animals

See some recent animal-related calls and advisories that have come out of the Livingston PD.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Lately, the Livingston Police Department has seen its share of bears, birds and barks.

Last week, a bear was spotted on Laurel Avene near I-280 in Livingston and Roseland, which has also seen other bear sightings this year. Livingston police offered some quick tips on how to safely deal with bears, which can be seen here.

Last week, a detective with the LPD found a “little birdie,” which posed for a smile-inducing photo.

The bird was taken to the local animal shelter and authorities are trying to find its owner. In the meanwhile, rescuers got a donation of a cage from the community after a callout from police on social media.

LOST DOGS

In the past weeks, Livingston police have also helped to reunite a pair of lost dogs with their owners.

One of the pooches was found near in the area of Kimball and Demarest; another was found on Hillside Avenue near the community center.
