Ex-Gov. Codey Helps Driver In Livingston Crash: ‘He’s Lucky’

"Another man and I were able to help the driver out and miraculously he seems to be doing alright," Sen. Richard Codey said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A driver involved in a car crash in Livingston is “extremely lucky,” former governor Richard Codey said Friday.

The Livingston Police Department issued an alert about an emergency road closure on Friday afternoon.

“West Mount Pleasant Avenue is closed between Livingston Avenue and Hillside Avenue for a motor vehicle accident with power out in the area,” police stated. “Please avoid the area.”

Codey, who now represents District 27 in the state Senate and has an office at 66 West Mount Pleasant Avenue, posted a photo of the crash site on social media.

In the photo, a utility pole has fallen on a car, crushing the vehicle and leaving downed wires strewn around the area.

“This just happened outside our district office at 66 W. Mount Pleasant in Livingston,” Sen. Codey wrote. “Another man and I were able to help the driver out and miraculously he seems to be doing alright. He’s extremely lucky. Always remember to drive safely out there everybody.”
