Former Pathmark to Become The Fresh Market

European-style Fresh Market will fill the 23,000 space in the Village at Livingston.

The empty space at The Village at Livingston will be filled with a store reminiscent of romantic style of European markets.

The space once occupied by Pathmark will now become The Fresh Market, a North-Carolina based grocery chain, by the fall. The chain, around since 1982, is the third in New Jersey and boasts “unparalleled product selection and expert customer service.”

“The store’s unique grocery concept and full-service philosophy has earned a large and loyal following with consumers. We are confident this retailer not only will make a major contribution to the ongoing success of the center, but will become a key amenity for local residents and a strong part of the community,” said Pete Schofel, Eastman Companies’ -- the management company of the shopping center -- co-managing partner.

The Fresh Market will accompany businesses in the 93,000-square-foot shopping center including Olive Garden, GameStop and Hudson City Savings.

“The Village at Livingston has long been one of Essex County’s favorite places to shop,” said Schofel in a release by Eastman Companies. “The addition of a high-quality grocer is a win-win for The Village at Livingston because it not only absorbs vacant space but will generate more consumer traffic to support the retailers already located here.”
