Heavy Storm Causes Flooding, Outages In Livingston: Report

LIVINGSTON, NJ — As forecasters warn of a storm passing through New Jersey on Wednesday, Livingston is seeing its own weather woes, a report says.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued statewide until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. (Read more)
Livingston town officials issued a social media advisory on Wednesday afternoon: “Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Advisory in effect this afternoon/evening. Drive carefully, and follow traffic instructions. Streets may be closed due to flooding.”

Local flash floods were seen on South Livingston Avenue, with scattered power outages throughout town, the West Essex Tribune reported.
As of 4 p.m., PSE&G’s online tracker listed multiple power outages in Livingston, including an outage near Hobart Gap Road and JFK Parkway that affected 435 customers. Power was expected to be restored at that location at 6 p.m.

More than 2,600 PSE&G customers were without power throughout Essex County as of 4:10 p.m., according to poweroutage.us.
