Jason Alexander Cleaned Bodily Waste In Livingston Before Stardom
The "Seinfeld" star highlighted a list of Livingston memories in his NJ Hall of Fame speech, including a job at Saint Barnabas hospital.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Don’s Diner. Livingston Mall. Saint Barnabas Medical Center. These are some of the local landmarks that Jason Alexander remembers when he thinks of New Jersey.
Last weekend, Alexander – known for his roles on “Seinfeld” and in several Broadway musicals – became one of the newest inductees to the New Jersey Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Asbury Park.
Alexander’s high school teacher from Livingston, Bob Lampf, introduced him prior to his acceptance speech. Walking out to the Seinfeld theme song – “I don’t know how they chose that,” he quipped – Alexander highlighted a long list of New Jersey landmarks that influenced his life.

Alexander’s list included Saint Barnabas Medical Center, where he once held jobs that required some not-so-savory tasks involving bodily waste.
“My mom ran the school of nursing there,” he recalled. “She wanted me to have a medical career. And so she arranged for me the three most disgusting jobs I have ever had in my entire life.”

The actor also brought up his memories of Don’s Diner in Livingston, which he credited for the origin of his “Adonis-like figure,” as well as the Spencer Gifts at Livingston Mall, another place he used to work before making it big.
“This is great for me, but I don’t know what the hell it does for New Jersey,” he joked. “I’m not sure that my picture gracing the walls of Newark Liberty International Airport as people arrive from around the world will quite convey the majesty, wonder and delight that is New Jersey.”
Alexander, who was born in Newark, graduated Livingston High School in 1977. He was inducted into the Livingston High School Hall of Fame in 1992.
