Livingston National Night Out 2017 Will Bring Cops, Community Together

This is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods a safer.

From the City of Livingston: Livingston will celebrate National Night Out along with thousands of other communities across the country on Tuesday, August 1st. The event will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Oval with an opening ceremony at the gazebo. This is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Emergency personnel from many law enforcement and public safety entities will be on hand to showcase their equipment. There will also be exhibits, safety demonstrations, and youth events. Step it Up Events will be present all evening with its open photo booth. Attendees will be able to pose for a fun picture and receive a souvenir copy to take with them. McGruff the Crime Dog, who is shown above, will be posing for photos at the photo booth.

Hot dogs, pizza and drinks will be provided free-of- charge. Members of the Livingston Police and Fire Departments will be manning the grills. The pizza is being donated by many of Livingston’s pizzerias.

The West Essex YMCA will be providing children’s activities. Also, children may bring their bathing suits and get wet as the Livingston Fire Department will be setting up an area where they can be showered with water from a fire truck.
