A winter storm will continue to affect Livingston's town services and public schools into Tuesday, officials say.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A winter storm will continue to affect Livingston's town services and public schools into Tuesday, officials say.

State officials have imposed travel restrictions, and weather forecasters predict that a nor'easter could impact New Jersey well into Tuesday. Heavy snow is possible and winds could gust as high as 50 mph. More than an inch per hour could fall during the height of the storm, which could be anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. In Livingston, all township non-emergency offices were closed on Monday.

Livingston officials previously offered the following advisories about garbage and recycling:

Recycling - "Recycling will not be picked up on Monday, February 1. All recycling will be picked up one day after the scheduled day for the rest of the week."

Garbage - "The township's garbage collection vendor does plan to make as many pickups as is possible on Monday. If they are unable to complete regular Monday pickups in your area, please leave your garbage at the curb, as they will complete pickups on Tuesday."

A change was later made to garbage pickup, Livingston officials reported.

"Garbage collection vendor RTS has advised us that they will NOT be picking up garbage on Monday, February 1," officials said in an update. "Residents with Monday/Thursday garbage collection will instead be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day, which is Thursday, February 4. RTS apologizes for any inconvenience."

LIVINGSTON SCHOOLS

The Livingston Public School District declared an all-remote day of learning for students and staff on Monday.

School administrators said:

"Due to the current forecast of hazardous weather conditions, tomorrow, Monday, February 1, 2021 will be a remote day of learning for all Livingston Public Schools students and staff. On Monday, February 1, 2021 all school facilities will be closed, all in-person activities are cancelled, and all instruction will take place remotely. We will continue watching the forecast tomorrow and will provide any additional information as needed. We will communicate with LPS staff and families tomorrow afternoon regarding the possibility of needing to utilize a snow day on Tuesday, February 2. Stay safe!"

Due to the ongoing weather forecast, Tuesday will be a traditional "snow day" in the Livingston Public School District.

Administrators said:

"Due to the current forecast of hazardous weather conditions, and to allow for families and staff to address the significant snowfall, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2 will be a Snow Day for all Livingston Public Schools students and staff. On Tuesday, February 2 all schools and offices will be closed, and all instruction and activities are cancelled. We will communicate with LPS staff and families ... regarding the possibility of needing an additional remote learning day on February 3. Stay safe."
