Can you believe it’s already June! We kicked off Adult Summer Reading this month, with the theme Tails and Tales (you can register here), but that’s not all! We enjoyed so many wonderful adult programs this month. Here’s a recap of what happened this June.

We kicked off June with Wellness Wednesday: Mindful Eating, a program in collaboration with The Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS), a part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. We learned all about how mindful eating leads to healthier eating habits and how we can implement this into our daily lives. We carried this theme of healthy food with us throughout the month, where we also enjoyed a presentation on Home Food Preservation: Freezing the Harvest and Other Foods, presented by Daryl Minch, Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Educator and a tenured faculty member for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Somerset County. Stay tuned for more Home Food Preservation programs coming this summer!Â
We also enjoyed wonderful art and history lectures on Zoom this month. We were fascinated by Janet Mandel’s talk on Art Nouveau: Humanity in Harmony with the Natural World. We also enjoyed Old Glory: History of the American Flag presented by Kevin Woyce. The second part of our three part opera series also took place this month with The Story of Opera Part 2: Romantic Opera 1800-1890. Dr. Robert W. Butts will be presenting the third part of this series in July.Â

We got crafty this month as we celebrated pride with our Pinterest Inspired Adult Craft: Pride Pins. Participants took home supplies to make this fun and meaningful self guided craft. We also expressed art and creativity through makeup during the workshop Create a Flawless Face: Everyday Makeup Basics as presented by Lyn Lynch.
We also enjoyed our monthly Bookish Vibes Book Club (which included an author visit with Elyssa Friedland), Let’s Talk About Books book club (which included an author visit with Julia Philipps), Unstuck in Time book club, and Senior Happening!Â
Be sure to visit our events calendar to see what wonderful programs we have planned for July.
See you soon!
