LIVINGSTON, NJ — Having some trouble getting a COVID-19 vaccination appointment in Essex County? Maybe a video tutorial put together by a Livingston resident can help.
Essex County was the first in New Jersey to launch its vaccine distribution program. The county is running five centers in Livingston, Newark, West Caldwell and West Orange.
The county’s program has seen high praise for getting shots into peoples’ arms. But each center has been seeing a huge demand, which far exceeds the available doses, officials have said.

Essex County has rolled out an online schedule that allows residents to see if any appointments are available at its vaccination centers. However, appointments have been disappearing off the tracker nearly as soon as they're posted, leaving many residents checking back daily with no success.

But according to some people familiar with the process, there’s no magic formula to landing an appointment.
Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. wrote in a social media post on Wednesday: “Here are some helpful tips from Livingston resident Natalie Silberman on how to register for #COVID19 vaccine appointments through our website.”
