Mega Vaccination Center Proposed At Ex-Sears Store In Livingston
The old Sears store at the Livingston Mall could see new life as a coronavirus vaccination center.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — The old Sears store at the Livingston Mall could see new life, at least temporarily, under a tentative plan to turn it into a “mega-vaccination center” for the coronavirus.
On Thursday, Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. posted the following message on social media:
“We are planning on using the old Sears store in the Livingston Mall as a mega-vaccination center for the coronavirus. We toured the store with Sheriff Armando Fontoura and Livingston Mayor Rudy Fernandez to check it out.”
A county spokesperson told Patch that the concept is still at the “very initial stage.”

“We went to see if the space was available and if the layout worked,” he said. “More discussion has to take place before we can develop a plan.”
Sears announced that it was closing its store at the Livingston Mall earlier this year.
