Car Crash On I-280 In Livingston; Major Delays, 'Rubbernecking'

"Motorists are advised to expect major delays and to use alternate routes," officials said. Injuries and "rubbernecking" were reported.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A multi-vehicle accident caused major delays on I-280 in Essex County near Livingston during the Tuesday morning rush hour, authorities said.

According to 511NJ.org, as of 8:48 a.m., there was an “accident with injuries” on I-280 westbound exit 6 at Laurel Avenue in Livingston. The two left lanes were closed; a 25 to 30-minute delay was reported, partly due to "rubbernecking."

511NJ added: “Motorists are advised to expect major delays and to use alternate routes.”

The delays extended to exit 9 in West Orange, 511NJ stated:

“Delays on I-280 westbound between Exit 9 - Pleasant Avenue/CR 660 (West Orange Twp)”
