NJ Trooper From Livingston Suspended After DWI Charge: Report
A Livingston man was chosen to represent the NJ State Police at a funeral. He missed the service because he was in jail, a report says.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — A New Jersey State Police trooper has been suspended without pay after he was jailed on DWI charges in West Lafayette, Indiana, a report says.
Michael Kulik, 26, of Livingston, was expected to represent his agency last week at the funeral of Indiana State Police Trooper Peter "Bo" Stephan, who was killed in a crash while responding to a call, the Journal and Courier reported.
However, Kulik missed the Oct. 18 service because he was in the Tippecanoe County Jail under suspicion of driving while intoxicated the night before the funeral, the Journal and Courier reported.

Kulik was stopped after being seen driving slowly and hugging the center line of the road, forcing cars to swerve around him, West Lafayette police stated. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 percent — more than twice the legal limit, the Journal and Courier reported.
Kulik has been suspended without pay, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson told the Journal and Courier.
