West Orange Teacher Leads Summer Art Classes In Livingston

The Livingston Arts Association will present its annual summer series of children's art lessons for 2019.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Arts Association will present its annual summer series of children’s art lessons for 2019.

According to municipal officials, the lessons will take place on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The programs run from July 10 to Aug. 14. All classes are held at the Senior/Community Center at 204 Hillside Avenue in Livingston.

“Our faculty, Carol Lynn Nellen, is a certified art teacher for grades K-12, having taught in the West Orange Public School System since 1970. She attended William Paterson University of New Jersey and the University of New Hampshire where she was graduated with a B.S. in art education and also received her teaching certification. She also attended and earned graduate credits at Montclair State University, Kean University, Upsala College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. For the past 15 years, she has been involved as a primary grade instructor in the Summer Enrichment Program sponsored by the West Orange Fine Arts Department.”

Officials said the program places emphasis on basic art skills, line, color, proportion, development of drawing, design and composition. Various media are employed such as watercolor, crayon, colored markers and pastel.
