County Partners with Businesses to Improve Emergency Preparedness
An informational and networking program on the public-private partnership will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. at I-Play America in Freehold.

Monmouth County is partnering with the business community in an effort to strengthen emergency preparedness and response.
The county Office of Emergency Management will be conducting an informational and networking program for businesses throughout Monmouth County Thursday, Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. at I-Play America in Freehold.
The public-private partnerships are a result of ongoing efforts to evaluate how the county prepares, responds, recovers and mitigates the impact of natural and manmade disasters and emergencies, according to a news release.

“The re-opening of businesses is a key component to community recovery. The quicker we can re-establish normal every day functions for the residents, the faster we can recover from events like Superstorm Sandy,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden.
The informational and networking program will help the Office of Emergency Management better understand how businesses can help in the recovery from disasters, the news release said.

Businesses are essential to overall preparedness efforts, as they deliver resources and assets, the news release said.
“Through our existing partnerships, we were able to deliver critical commodities to the residents of Monmouth County in the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy,” said Golden. “Our OEM team continues to be committed to ensuring the safety and well- being of residents, businesses and visitors to Monmouth County.”
The initial program will focus on larger Monmouth County businesses with multiple sites, such as home improvement stores, grocery stores and department stores.
“This is a prime example of the type of partnerships and relationships that we are trying to develop. We appreciate Encore Events for hosting this program,” said OEM Coordinator Mike Oppegaard.
