Eatontown School District Gets Over $2M In COVID Relief Grants
These grants are funded by the CARES act and will help the school district recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
EATONTOWN, NJ – The Eatontown Public School District received two Emergency and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants totalling $2,331,954 from the New Jersey Department of Education last week.
The ESSER grants were given to the Department of Education through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed back in March. The CARES Act provides states with direct funding to address the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on school districts in every state and the total amount each district receives is based off of the amount of Title 1 funding that the district receives from the federal government.
"We know our students and educators have had a difficult year," Governor Phil Murphy said back in February.
