Former Long Branch Police Officer Sentenced On Union Theft: Cops

Alfred Cistaro, 43,​ was sentenced to one year probation for stealing over $80,000 from the local police union he was president of.

FREEHOLD, NJ - A former Long Branch Police officer and police union president has been sentenced for stealing from the police union funds, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor.

Alfred Cistaro, 43, was sentenced to one year probation for theft by deception, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor. Cistaro had plead guilty in June to the charges of stealing over $80,000 from the the police union PBA Local 10 over the period of a year and a half.

The crime came to light after a complaint to Long Branch PBA Local 10 stated that 27 checks had come to Cistaro, totaling $84,628, for services rendered, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor. Based on the information gathered from the Monmouth County Prosecutor, Cistaro should have only received around $4,500.

As part of his plea deal, Cistaro paid $80,138 in restitution on his sentencing date.
