Monmouth University Cracks Down After 75 COVID Cases On Campus
Indoor dining is now closed. All sports team practices have been paused. And students must wear a mask when walking outdoors on campus.
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ — There are now 75 COVID-positive cases on the Monmouth University campus, and the school is cracking down as a result.
"Today we are reporting 36 new confirmed cases," said college president Patrick Leahy on Tuesday. "A notable increase over the 39 total confirmed cases reported on Friday, September 25."
The virus appears to be spreading from student to student, as he said there has not been any student-to-faculty transmission recorded yet.

Monmouth U. students must wear masks at all times, both indoors and outdoors, unless they are in their dorm room, and the campus is shut down to all visitors.
The majority of Monmouth classes are already online this semester, so there is no change there.
Fortunately, none of the confirmed cases has so far resulted in hospitalization, said Leahy.
