Three members of an Asbury Park family are facing animal cruelty charges after a dog was brought into the Shrewsbury Animal Hospital near death.

Norma Manuel, 51, her daughter, Amanda Boyd, and Boyd's son, Tyshon Taylor, 19, have been charged with 4 counts of animal cruelty each after Taylor brought his 7-month-old pit bull, Heaven, to the animal hospital on Nov. 13.

Chief Victor “Buddy” Amato of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said the dog was malnourished, with signs of burns and other injuries and a severe skin condition, prompting to the hospital to call his office.

Amato said Heaven is struggling to maintain her body temp and that he is not sure at this point if the dog will survive.

Taylor, Boyd and Manuel were arrested at their home on Thursday.

Taylor, is the owner of the dog, and is being held at Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail with no 10 percent option. His court date has been set for Nov. 22.
