WATCH: Flash Mob Surprises Holiday Shoppers at Mall in Monmouth County

Flash choirs are popping up lots of places; this one popped up last week in Freehold

Imagine strolling through the mall doing your holiday shopping when suddenly the folks next you break out in song.

That’s what happened at Freehold Raceway Mall recently, as seen in the video by Gellman Images. The effort was coordinated by Congregation Kol Am of Freehold, with over 200 participants coordinating for the special holiday surprise on Thursday, December 11.

It was a joint effort, with Rabbi Brooks Susman signaling the start with a shofar instrument in the center court of the mall, and the choir beginning with “The Feast of Lights”. After five minutes, the mixed group of signers dispersed back into the crowd, as if it had never happened and in keeping with flash mob tradition.

“It was a fun thing to do for everyone involved and it was great to see how happy it made when all of the shoppers stopped and realized what was happening,” said Elizabeth Jones Hurst, one of the choir participants.
