Algae Closes Budd Lake Beach
The beach was closed for the weekend, and remains closed Monday morning.
BUDD LAKE, NJ — Budd Lake Beach is closed due to an crease in algae, and will remain closed until further notice, Mount Olive officials said.
The beach closed on Aug. 2, and has remained closed. The pool and Pirate's Cove are both open. Officials blamed an increase in algae for the closure. No timeline for a reopened has been announced.
Officials told the Mount Olive Chronicle that high lake temperatures have allowed the algae to flourish. The lake is usually in the 70s, but this year the temperature has hovered in the low 80s.
