Almost All Long Valley Seniors Have At Least 1 COVID Vaccine Dose

But Washington Township still has work to do in order to get 70 percent of adults fully vaccinated, in line with state goals.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Almost all of Washington Township's seniors have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. But the township still has work to do in order to get 70 percent of adults fully vaccinated, in line with state goals.

For the first time Monday, the New Jersey Department of Health released town-level data on COVID-19 vaccinations. The state's COVID-19 dashboard now reveals the percentage of all people, adults and seniors who have been partially or fully vaccinated in each city and town.

Here's the data in Washington Township:

  • Population with at least one vaccine dose: 52 percent of all ages, 67 percent of adults (18 and older) and 94 percent of seniors (65 and older).
  • Population fully vaccinated: 43 percent of all ages, 56 percent of adults and 85 percent of seniors.

New Jersey set a goal to fully vaccinate 70 percent of adults — 4.7 million people — by the end of June. About 3.6 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated as of Monday afternoon.

Before Monday, New Jersey only publicly released vaccine data at the state and county levels. The municipality data reveals disparities in vaccination progress between towns within the same county. For instance, 73 percent of Chatham Borough adults have been fully vaccinated, while only 41 percent of Dover's adults have been completely inoculated.

All people 16 and older are eligible for vaccination in New Jersey. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds remain eligible for only the Pfizer vaccine. Several vaccine sites — such as the Morris County regional megasite, Rite Aid and CVS — now allow limited walk-ins for COVID-19 vaccines.

The Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use of the Pfizer shots for ages 12-15 on Monday.
