MOUNT OLIVE, NJ — Amazon is opening a new fulfillment center in Mount Olive sometime next year, the company announced.

The online retail giant will turn the old Sam's Club location on route 46 into a "New Jersey Delivery Station." This station will help deliver packages to customers in the Morris County area. An exact opening date has not been announced, but company officials expect a 2020 opening.

Amazon expects to hire hundreds of full- and part-time employees, with jobs starting at $15 an hour.

The old Sam's Club shuttered abruptly in early 2018, and the warehouse building has sat empty since. It was one of 63 Sam's Clubs to close with little notice. Sam's Club's parent company, Walmart, said at the time they expected to convert 12 of those buildings into retail commerce centers.
