Murphy fulfilled his Eagle Scout project by overseeing the refurbishment of the main room and kitchen of Long Valley’s Senior Center on Rock Road. He supervised the project and had a team of fellow scouts work with him to spackle and paint the walls in the Senior Center.
Over the past seven years, Murphy has been actively involved with Troop 36, having been a Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life Scout. He has been given 24 merit badges. He’s an Ordeal Member of the Scout’s National Honor Society, Order of the Arrow.

Murphy’s also been involved as a Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader.
He took part in the National Scout Jamboree in 2017 and a trip to the Sea Base High Adventure in 2018 in the Florida Keys, according to the proclamation from Murello.
Murphy is the second scout to have reached the Eagle Scout level from Troop 36 in June, with Chris Meehan, also of the troop, being honored on June 13. On that occasion, Murello told Patch he and Committee Members Tyler Oborn and Bill Roehrich are all Eagle Scouts themselves.
“I tell the scouts in town all the time that there isn’t another town in New Jersey that can say a majority of the elected officials are Eagle Scouts,” Morello said
