Black River Road Work Underway In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Work has begun on the Black River Road bridge in Long Valley, and drivers should be prepared for a multi-month detour.

The bridge will be closed for 60-90 days as work on the bridge, which spans the Black River, is completed. Black River Road will be closed between Old Turnpike Road and Fairmount Road. About 245 cars travel over the bridge daily

Work will include de-construction of the parapet walls and then reconstruction utilizing the existing stones to address cracks. The bridge is only 12 feet long. Officials aren't sure when the bridge was built.
