Dog Needs New NJ Home After Owner Passes Away

Lady, 8, was happy living with her previous owner, but needs a new home after her owner passed away.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — It's been a hard time recently for Lady, an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd mix. She was left without a home after her previous owner died, and the owner's family couldn't find her a new home.

Eleventh Hour Rescue is working to get the pup, and her daughter, Buttercup, into a new forever home. They said this about her previous living situation:

[The old owner's] grandson took over caring for her dogs but between work, family, and pets of his own, the best he could do was to go over and tend to them a couple times a day. The girls have been basically living alone for a very long time now. The man tried for months to find homes for the girls or even a rescue to take them in. He couldn't leave them outdoors because it was winter, but the girls escaped often & neighbors complained.

Despite her hardships, Lady is a true family dog, and will fit in well with most loving families.

"Lady is gentle, loving, and very low key. She walks nicely on a leash and is housebroken. Lady gets along well with other dogs and loves kids. This kind, older lady deserves a family that will love and care for her," the rescue says. She is fully spayed and vettted.
