Drunk Driver Strikes Utility Pole Over Weekend In Mount Olive, Police Say
An intoxicated man ran into a utility pole with his car, and then tried to walk away, according to police.

In the middle of Saturday night, a man hit a utility pole in Mount Olive and then tried to get away by walking away, according to police. He didn't get very far.
According to Mount Olive Police, a gentleman only identified as Bowley was driving on Route 206 at just around midnight on Saturday night when he hit a utility pole in the area of Patricia Drive. Bowley was driving a red Chevrolet. After the accident, Bowley tried to get away by walking up Patricia Drive, according to a witness.
The investigating officer arrived at the scene to find Bowley in the front yard of a residence, policy report. After a brief foot pursuit, the driver was caught and arrested. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver, according to police reports, and Bowley seemed to be impaired in his movements. Bowley was consequently arrested and taken to Mount Olive Police headquarters. Bowley was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

He was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
