Flooding Closes Long Valley Roads Thursday Afternoon

Heavy rains and melting snow have made for dangerous roads in Long Valley.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Several Long Valley roads are closed Thursday afternoon, after heavy rains and melting snow caused flooding.

Vernon Road is closed between West Valley Brook Road and the Columbia Trail crossover, and North Four Bridges Road is also closed.

Drivers are also cautioned about West Mill Road between Beacon Hill Road and the town line. The road has standing water and drivers could hydroplane if they go too fast, police warn.

The rain is expected to last through 6 p.m.; at that time, there's a 50 percent chance the rain will turn to snow. Precipitation should end by 7 p.m.

Temperatures will dip below freezing around midnight and will stay below freezing for all of Friday and into Saturday afternoon.
