Former Long Valley DPW Employee Dies

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Obituary provided by the Leber Funeral Home:

Richard Dzurenko, 75, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday September 29, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by his family. Richard was born on September 30, 1943 in East Orange, NJ to the late John and Marie Dzurenko. He lived in Parsippany, NJ before moving to Long Valley 32 years ago. Rich worked for the Washington Twp. Department of Public works for 20 years before retiring in 1998. He was an avid watch collector and photographer. His passion for the outdoors was captured in many of the beautiful photos he took of scenic settings, animals, and flowers. Rich also enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gwendolyn (Meisenzahl) Dzurenko; devoted daughter, Theresa Laffan and her husband Liam; five loving grandchildren, Michael and his wife Alex, Jennifer Cicilioni and her husband Kyle, Christopher, Braedon, and Heather; cherished great-grandson, Declan; three sisters, Janet Decker, Christine Connell and her husband William, and Joanne Dzurenko; Father-in-Law Fred Meisenzahl, Sister-in-Law Elizabeth Flynn, Brother-in-Laws Fred Meisenzahl and Stephen Meizenzahl; and by many other loving family members and friends.

Rich’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Sunday October 6, 2019 from 2PM – 6PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 7, 2019 at 11AM at Our Lady of the Mountain RC Church in Long Valley. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Mountain Cemetery.
