Lifetime Learning Lecture Series Returns to the Library
Washington Twp. Library will host Zoom lecture series on rock & roll, audio storytelling, birth order, and the psychology of language

LONG VALLEY -- The Friends of the Washington Township Public Library have announced that the popular adult enrichment program, Lifetime Learning, will resume beginning Friday, April 9th. The series will be conducted entirely online, over Zoom.
Since 2012, Lifetime Learning has presented college-level instructors offering multi-part courses on a variety of subjects. There are no residency requirements, and tuition is $25 per course for Friends members and $30 for non-members ($12 / $15 for the mini-course).
The first series will be "The Roots of Rock & Roll in the 1950s and 1960s." It will be led by Dr. Robert Butts, Artistic Director/Conductor, The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, and Professor, Montclair State University & College of Saint Elizabeth. The series will run four Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., from April 9th through April 30th.

The next series, "Turn on Your Radio and Hide: Audio Storytelling from War of the Worlds to Welcome to Night Vale," will be presented by Alex Dawson, artistic director of Raconteur Radio and full-time faculty member at Rutgers University, where he teaches creative writing and audio storytelling. Lectures will be held Thursday evenings, from 7 - 8:30 p.m., on May 6, 13, and 20th.
The third series is "Birth Order and Innovative Lives: Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud, Leonardo DaVinci, and Frederick W. Taylor." Presented by Dr. Salvatore Prisco, tenured faculty in history at the University of Alabama, 1969-1974, and tenured faculty at Stevens Institute of Technology, N.J. 1974-2011, Chair, Dept. of Humanities, Professor of Humanities, Director, Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. Lectures will be held Fridays, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., on May 7, 14, 21, and 28.

The final series is a "mini" course of two lectures, "The Psychology of Language," presented by Mr. Sten Knutsen, Cognitive Psychology Ph.D. Program and Lecturer at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Classes meet Fridays from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. on June 4 and 11.
