Lifetime Learning Returns to Washington Township Library
The Washington Township Public Library will host three adult continuing education series this fall.

LONG VALLEY - The Friends of the Washington Township Public Library are pleased to announce the return of Lifetime Learning to the library. The adult enrichment program will run from September 7 through October 26.
The program offers lecture series by experts from various area colleges and universities. Each series consists of four classes. The cost is $25 for each series for Friends of the Library members, and $30 for non-members. There is no residence requirement. The program is underwritten by the Friends of the Washington Township Library.
This fall’s program begins with a series entitled “Giuseppe Verdi & Italian Romantic Opera”. It will be presented by Dr. Robert Butts, composer, conductor of The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, and Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University and The College of St. Elizabeth. Dr. Butts has been a part of Lifetime Learning since it began. Dr. Butts series will be presented on Friday mornings, September 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 10:30 to 11:30.

The Friday morning classes will continue on October 5 with a series by Dr. Krista Jenkins Associate Professor of Political Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University. We'll be discussing the 2018 midterm elections, gender and the #MeToo movement's importance in elections, the perils of modern day polling, and New Jersey's fit within Trump's America.
This series is entitled “Political Promise or Peril? Four Conversations About Politics in the Modern Age”. The dates will be October 5, 12, 19 and 26.

The Thursday evening series, will offer “Always Make the Audience Suffer as Much as Possible” —The Films of Alfred Hitchcock”. The speaker will Mr. Joseph Geddes, English Dept., WMCHS. He teaches Film Analysis and Theory of Knowledge in the I.B./Honors Program.
His series will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on October 4, 11, 18 and 25. In addition to the lecture, part of the series includes Monday evening previews of each film at 6:30 p.m. introduced by Mr. Geddes.
Class size is limited and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration will be checked at the door. Checks should be made out to Friends of WTPL.
