Long Valley Boy Scout Troop 236 River Clean-up

Long Valley Boy Scout Troop 236 River Clean-up

On Saturday, April 20, members of Boy Scout Troop 236 of Long Valley braved the elements to participate in the Raritan Headwaters Association’s annual river clean-up event. Despite the rain 29 volunteers showed up to help support this effort. Through their diligent work the Troop’s volunteers removed a total of 14 bags of trash/recyclables and assorted other garbage (pails, a trash can, chairs, etc.) from the riverbanks. The volunteers also spent an inordinate amount of time cleaning up an excessive amount of broken glass found on the bank of the river just off of the Columbia Trail in Long Valley. This was the Troop’s seventh consecutive year participating in this event. Based on the team’s enthusiasm we will be sure to continue to do this each year for at least another seven years.
