Long Valley Chocolate Shop Has Best Sweets In County: Magazine
A local restaurant and coffee chop were also named a top seafood restaurant by the same local magazine.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Chocolate Shoppe in Long Valley has the best chocolate in all of Morris County, readers of Morris/Essex Health & Life said. The Chesapeake Tavern was named a top-three seafood restaurant, and The Coffee Potter was a top coffeehouse.
The candy store and tavern earned their honors in the magazines annual reader's choice survey. The survey covered everything from the best tea shop to best butcher and more. You can see all of the Morris County winners on their website.
The Chocolate Shoppe moved to Long Valley in October 2017 after a fire in Mendham destroyed their old location. They sell a variety of chocolates, including gift boxes and novelty shapes. It was named the best in the county, over Sweet Expressions in Denville and J. Emanuel Chocolatier in Chester.

The Chesapeake Tavern is another recent addition to the town, having opened in the summer of 2017. It's earned rave reviews from local recently, and describes itself as a "casual, rustic tavern, with delicious food and drink that is of high quality and exceptional flavor." It ranked third, behind Denville Seafood and H2Ocean in Cedar Knolls.
The Coffee Potter was named the second-best coffeehouse in the county, behind only SmartWorld Coffee in Morristown. Located in an old bank on Schooley's Mountain Road, The Coffee Potter serves up hot and iced coffees, Nitro cold brew on tap, and coffee shop classic snacks, like cookies, muffins, and more.
