LONG VALLEY, NJ - A relentless string of winter weather has tested first responders in the area. And the Long Valley First Aid Squad passes every time.

Last week, the Long Valley First Aid Squad was dispatched to a residence for a traumatic injury and when they arrived found 1,000 feet of driveway covered in black ice and snow, officials said.

Responders had a difficult time traversing the driveway safely on foot and while EMS members went to work assessing and stabilizing injuries the LVFAS Rescue Services quickly built a low angle haul system, officials said

The patient was hauled up the front lawn and transferred to Support 1, a 4x4 Chevy Suburban that has the ability to transport patients on a litter. The patient was then transferred to EMS-3. The Washington Township Police Department assisted with patient carry and haul out.
