Long Valley Hosts Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony
A recording of the event will be available on the Washington Township website and social media pages starting Saturday, May 29.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — With New Jersey’s shift back to life in the middle of Memorial Day weekend, as COVID-19 starts to become a memory, Long Valley's 2021 Memorial Day ceremony will be virtual.
Post 1776 Washington Township Veterans Association plans to honor the sacrifices of the country’s servicemen and servicewomen with a video ceremony to be posted on the township’s website and social media pages on Saturday.
Mayor Matt Murello said in a phone interview with Patch on Wednesday, there originally appeared to be “no light at the end of the tunnel,” with the state’s lifting of COVID-19 restrictions by the holiday, which had made it challenging for municipalities to plan for Memorial Day, as well as other holidays and events in the near future.
