Long Valley Man, Business Owner Killed In Crash

Randy Hemmel died in a single-vehicle crash on Flocktown Road Thursday.

LONG VALLEY, NJ - A 62-year-old Long Valley resident was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Flocktown Road on Thursday, according to the Washington Township Police Department.

According to Washington Township police, officers were sent to the scene of the accident around 9:50 a.m. on Feb. 20 where they found a 2013 blue Audi TTS on its side near the side of the road.

Police said Randy Hemmel, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is still pending as well as autopsy reports, police said.

According to his obituary, Hemmel is survived by his beloved wife Lili, his sons Blake and Ryan, daughter-in-law Tracy, his brothers William (Cap), Ronald and Chris, his sister Candace, plus many nieces and nephews.

Hemmel had a strong passion for music, airplanes, boats, automobiles and motor sports, the obituary said. He was the proud owner and operator of Sky High Pics drone photography and videography, and recently started “The 70s Guy” as the singer and musician.

"As owner of Sky High Pics, I work to bring you the most amazing, dynamic, colorful, and dramatic aerial photography and videography possible," Hemmel said on the business website. "With my high-tech equipment, my 30+ years as a Private Pilot, 32 years as an IT specialist, and my background as a Coldwell Banker Realtor, my specialty is in photographing residential homes and commercial properties – from the air."

Hemmel's memorial service was held at Long Valley Presbyterian Church, 39 Bartley Road, Tuesday morning.
