Long Valley Scouts Honor Military In Union Cemetery

Boy Scout Troop 36 joined the American Legion and Washington Township Mayor to place new flags on graves for Memorial Day.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Members of Hackettstown American Legion Post 164, local scouts and Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello placed close to 1,000 American Flags on the graves of military members in Union Cemetery on Saturday.

In honor of Memorial Day, scouts annually install new flags at the burial plots of veterans from all of the country’s wars.

Murello said 183 of the flags went to those who served in the American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War and Spanish-American War.
