LONG VALLEY NJ — The coronavirus pandemic has presented challenges for most local businesses, but that hasn't stopped many from continuing to offer the products and services beloved by their regular customers.
One of those businesses is Long Valley's purespace Studio.
The business was nominated by Patch readers as a business of the year for managing to navigate the turbulence with steadfast determination and an unwavering commitment to the clients they serve.

"During a pandemic, exercise is more important than ever for maintaining physical health, but even more importantly positive mental health," customer Laura Brucker told Patch. "Owner and Long Valley resident Michelle Ells and her business partner continued to provide services to their clients from the beginning of the shutdown and continue to adjust offerings to meet client needs and pandemic rules for gyms."
Owners Michelle Els and Sarah Jacobs said what makes purespace special is about the "more" that the studio offers. In order to provide clients with a true focus on wellness, purespace offerings span well beyond traditional exercise classes.

On their website, Els and Jacobs said what sets them apart is the community the space encourages and reflects. Clients know each other and instructors know their clients by name. The clients trade stories. They share life events, likes, dislikes, and support for each other.
And it is that adaptability, that Patch readers said make purespace so vital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"By offering outdoor and zoom class options, and adding sessions to support both physical and mental health, purespace provided essential services to the community," Brucker said.
