New Jersey Transit has seen its fair share of issues and oddities in the past few years, but none quite like this: a rider decided the upper deck of his evening train was the perfect time and place for a shave.
In a video shared on Twitter by longtime commuter Pete Bentivegna, an unidentified passenger was caught on video shaving while riding the 6:50 p.m. outbound Northeast Corridor Train. This was no quiet electric razor; the shave was done with an old-school disposable razor and shaving cream. After a few swipes, he flicks the cream onto the floor. (You can watch all three videos below.)
"Must have a hot date," a fellow rider quips in the background of the video.

The man didn't let the extra shaving cream sit on his face for the rest of the ride, Bentivegna said.
"He stumbled to the bathroom and left that mess for someone else to clean obviously. Pretty gross. But his skill level is def 10/10," Bentivegna tweeted.

In a second video, the man can be seen taking a few swigs out of a Bud Light tall boy, and talking about his plans for the evening.
"Yo, lets go, Atlantic City... frantic city! I want to go to frantic city," the man says, seemingly in response to an announcement that the train was Jersey Avenue bound.
"I’ve been commuting for almost 20 years on this line and it’s right up there with the strangest things I’ve seen for sure," Bentivegna said, adding in another tweet that he appeared drunk and riled up. "He eventually calmed down and crashed asleep."
Most Twitter users sounded off against the shaving man, with one saying it would have put her "over the edge:
Clipping nails on the train/subway/desk at work is my irrational pet peeve this would have put me over the edge.

Other users pointed out that, well, it was sort of impressive:
He did that with no mirror, in a moving vehicle, and is not covered in blood. I’d like to see anyone else try that

And some were torn on how to feel about the whole thing:
I’m not sure whether to be impressed or horrified

Patch has reached out to Bentivegna for more details on the videos, and will update if we hear back.
For those of you wondering, yes, it is against the rules to shave on New Jersey Transit trains, spokesperson Jim Smith confirmed to Patch.
"NJ TRANSIT has a policy that prohibits bathing or shaving in NJ TRANSIT facilities or on-board the trains and buses. Under this policy, the conductor has the authority to ask the customer to stop. If the request to stop is denied, the conductor can elevate the issue to police," Smith said.
