Morris County Man Bashes Box Truck Into Underpass: Police
The vehicle was more than two feet taller than the underpass, authorities said.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - Traffic was snarled for more than two hours after a 31-year-old Succasunna man rammed a box truck he was driving into the Grand Avenue underpass on Wednesday, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.
Just after 2 p.m. the Hackettstown Police, Hackettstown Fire Department and Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad responded to Grand Avenue for a report of a box truck that struck the underpass and overturned.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the box truck on its side and diesel leaking from the saddle tank, police said. Authorities said Steven Zemanek driving south on Grand Ave in a 2012 box truck when the truck hit the underpass and overturned. Zemanek was able to get himself from the truck and was treated for a minor hand injury at the scene, authorities said.

The underpass is 10 feet eight inches and the truck's height was 12 feet nine inches, officials said. Zemanek was issued a summons for careless driving and delaying traffic.
Bills Service Center responded to the scene to upright the box truck and tow it from the scene, police said. Grand Avenue was closed between College View Drive and Allen Road for approximately two hours. Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Department of Public Works, Warren County Hazmat Team and Mansfield Township police.
