Motorist With False Documents Nabbed After Foot Chase, Cops Say

Perth Amboy man ran from officers when he was told he was under arrest, Washington Twp. police say.

A motorist is accused of running from police after they tried to place him under arrest after a traffic stop.

Carlos Juarez-Sanchez was arrested Thursday morning by Washington Township police who said he fled after being informed he was being taken into custody for providing a fake name on a Texas driver's license.

Juarez-Sanchez, 27, of Perth Amboy, was pulled over by Patrolman Adam Feichter at 10 a.m. Thursday on Schooley's Mountain Road on suspicion of having an unknown temporary registration, Lt. Arthur Adams said in a release.

After Feichter learned the driver had allegedly provided a false name on a driver's license, he attempted to place him under arrest. Juarez-Sanchez ran across Schooley's Mountain Road, jumped a guardrail and ran through the woods toward the Washington Township Municipal Building, Adams said.

Feichter and Adams, who arrived to assist, pursued Juarez-Sanchez on foot and by car, respectively, as additional units responded to search. Adams and Feichter were able to cut him off as he ran, and placed him under arrest after he slipped and fell to the ground. Juarez-Sanchez continued to resist arrest as the officers cuffed him, Adams said.
