NEW JERSEY - Monday saw Joe Biden officially named the winner of the Nov. 3 presidential race in the Garden State.

On Monday morning New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way certified New Jersey’s election results, which contained a record-breaking 4,635,000 votes cast and certified and on Monday evening Governor Phil Murphy signed the Certificate of Ascertainment, in advance of the Presidential Electors meeting and voting Dec. 14.

"I signed Certificates of Ascertainment recognizing a slate of New Jersey electors for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris based on the results of the presidential election," Murphy said. "The certificates will now be sent to the National Archivist."

Over the weekend, Murphy spoke to Biden as the latter is preparing to take office in January.

"I had a very good conversation on Saturday with President-elect Joe Biden on a number of topics – including the pandemic, the need for federal stimulus, and moving forward on infrastructure," Murphy said. "The needs of New Jersey are being put front-and-center for the incoming administration."
