Police Log: Suspicious Persons And Marijuana Among Recent Complaints In Washington Township

Washington Township Police were dispatched to a residence on the report of suspicious individuals on site.

Washington Township officers found a couple of people reported for suspicious activity at a private residence on North Washington Valley Road:

Sept. 23

A Washington Township patrol officer went to a private house on North Washington Valley Road on the call of suspicious activity. When he got there, he spotted two individuals taking pictures of the house in question. He spoke to them and discovered that the two individuals were actually employees of the bank that owned the property. But interestingly enough, one of the individuals taking the photographs actually had an active warrant on him that was issued by the Warren County Prosecutor's Office. That individual was taken into custody and later transported to the Warren County Correctional Facility.

Sept. 24

On Saturday, a Washington Township police officer stopped a 1998 Nissan on Route 46 for a driving violation. When speaking to the driver, the officer smelled weed coming from the car. The officer found that the driver had about 5 grams of Hashish oil in the car, so the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Washington Township Police Headquarters. That driver was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of under 5 Grams of Hashish and Motor Vehicle Summons for Using a Handheld Device While Driving and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. She was given a mandatory court date to appear in the Washington Township Municipal Court and then later, released.

Sept. 26

A Washington Township patrol officer was given information about an individual with an outstanding warrant out of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department. That officer was able to locate the individual and so found him in Washington Township and placed him under arrest. That individual was later turned over to Sussex County Sheriff’s Department in default of his required bail of $172,799.86 for child support. The arrested individual was later turned over to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department.
