Seatbelt Ticket Leads To Criminal Arrest In Washington Township
Tony Chillemi was wanted across state lines for a criminal charge, police said.
LONG VALLEY, NJ - A 37-year-old Mount Pocono, Pa., man was arrested on a criminal warrant after being ticketed for a seatbelt violation, according to the Washington Township Police Department.
The Washington Township Police Department stopped a car on Route 46 on Feb. 6 for a motor vehicle violation, authorities said.
During the stop, the officer noticed that the passenger, Tony Chillemi was not wearing his seatbelt, police said. Chillemi refused to provide his identification and was placed under arrest, police said. After Chillemi was searched, the officer located his identification and it was learned that Chillemi was a wanted person who had a National Crime Information Center warrant out of Pennsylvania for criminal charges, police said.

Chillemi was transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters where he was processed, issued a motor vehicle summons for not wearing his seatbelt, and then transported and lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending an extradition hearing.
