LONG VALLEY, NJ — Four Long Valley Middle School students and Girl Scouts from Troop 95641, recently completed a Silver Award project that benefitted the Little Brook Nursing Home in Califon.

As part of their Silver project which is the second highest award the Girl Scouts give out, the four young women built a new garden table, with the home’s former table having fallen apart because of the ravages of time.

“Anne McLean [a representative of Little Brook] was grateful for the time, energy and gift which will benefit their elderly clients,” Assistant Troop Leader Omar Vikin told Patch.

The girls each contributed a minimum of 50 hours of work toward the project, per the Silver Award requirements, which according to Vikin, included each taking responsibility for a portion of the work. Olivia Biondolillo handled public relations and was the communications leader, Sarah Hall the logistics leader, Abbey Riina the project manager and Sophia Vikin the group leader and contact for Little Brook.

Omar Vikin also reached out to Regional Services Manager/District Manager Dorel Barbos from Home Depot to say that Al Chibukian from the Hackettstown location, provided the team with guidance after they contacted him, with creating the wheelchair-accessible, garden table.
